Other integrations
Goal: try AI traffic or connect a ProFlare to a vehicle light.
Before you start
These optional integrations require separate assets:
| You want | Install first |
|---|---|
| Lane-following AI traffic | Realistic Traffic Controller |
| ProFlares driven by vehicle lamps | ProFlares |
Complete Your First Drive before combining systems.
Open the RCCP integration cards from Tools > BoneCracker Games > Realistic Car Controller Pro > Welcome Window > Addons. A Download button means RCCP has not detected the required asset. Import Integration means the dependency is detected and the RCCP integration is ready to import.
Adding AI traffic with Realistic Traffic Controller
1. Install and open the example
- Import Realistic Traffic Controller and finish its setup.
- In RCCP's Welcome Window > Addons, find Realistic Traffic Controller.
- Click Import Integration and wait for compilation to finish.
- Select Demos > Traffic Scenes > City RTC.
- Save your previous scene if prompted, then press Play.
Check: the city example opens and you can observe traffic while driving.
The integration supplies a worked example scene in Assets/Realistic Car Controller Pro/Addons/Installed/Realistic Traffic Controller/Scenes/. It does not add a traffic-driving component to your RCCP player car.
2. Use it in your own scene
Use the example to compare the scene setup, then follow Realistic Traffic Controller's own documentation for lanes, traffic lights, spawn distances and its traffic vehicle pool.
RCCP's waypoint AI is a separate system. Use the documentation for the system that actually controls your traffic.
Check: first test the traffic on its own, then test your player car among it.
If traffic does not appear
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| The card still shows Download | Finish importing Realistic Traffic Controller and resolve compilation errors. |
| City RTC is unavailable | Import the RCCP integration as well as Traffic Controller. |
| The example runs but your own scene has no traffic | Compare the lane, spawn and vehicle setup with the example and Traffic Controller's guide. |
Optional: remove the example
Once your scenes no longer depend on it, remove Addons/Installed/Realistic Traffic Controller/ from the RCCP folder.
This removes the RCCP example, not Realistic Traffic Controller itself. The BCG_RTRC scripting symbol belongs to Traffic Controller; removing the RCCP example is not a reason to clear it.
Better lens flares with ProFlares
1. Import the integration
- Import ProFlares.
- Open Welcome Window > Addons > ProFlares.
- Click Import Integration and wait for compilation.
Check: RCCP Pro Flare Adjuster is available in Add Component.
The integration installs in Assets/Realistic Car Controller Pro/Addons/Installed/ProFlare/. RCCP detects ProFlares by its types; this integration does not require a scripting symbol.
2. Connect one lamp
- Stop Play Mode and select the object containing the vehicle lamp's Unity Light component.
- Create or place the ProFlare beneath that object in the Hierarchy, following ProFlares' setup.
- On the Light object, choose Add Component > BoneCracker Games > Realistic Car Controller Pro > Pro Flare > RCCP Pro Flare Adjuster.
- Set the flare's starting size and tint.
- Press Play and switch the lamp on and off.
Check: the flare changes with the lamp's intensity. With Change Color enabled, it also follows the lamp color.
The adjuster needs the Light on the same object and finds the ProFlare in its children. Fix these assignments before tuning its appearance.
3. Adjust the appearance
| Setting | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Flare Multiplier | Scales the intensity-driven flare size. |
| Change Scale | Enables size changes from lamp intensity. Turn off to keep the authored size. |
| Change Color | Copies the Light's color to the flare while preserving the flare tint's alpha. |
The starting scale is captured when the component starts. Stop Play Mode before editing that baseline; runtime scale edits can be overwritten.
If the flare does not respond
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| A startup error or no response | Put the adjuster beside the Light, with a ProFlare beneath it. |
| The size stays fixed | Enable Change Scale and check Flare Multiplier. |
| The color stays fixed | Enable Change Color. |
| RCCP flare sliders have no effect | They control RCCP's own flare, not ProFlares. Use the ProFlare and adjuster settings. |
| Turning RCCP's Lens flare option off leaves a flare visible | That switch does not disable a separate ProFlare. |
Optional: remove the integration
Remove the adjuster components from your lamps, then remove Addons/Installed/ProFlare/ from the RCCP folder. There is no integration symbol to clean up.
Next step
- Lights — configure vehicle lamps and RCCP's own flares.
- AI Vehicles — use RCCP waypoint AI.
- Installation — revisit import and compilation checks.
